Hookstick

Hookstick is a disco funk band. While music references the “golden oldies”, the style is very much more exciting. None of our musicians started in the world of funk or disco, which adds to the fun of our sets. A perfectly obvious funk track may suddenly veer into a rock solo for a brief and surprising moment, with all musicians fantastically versatile. With uniquely powerful and passionate vocals from singer Kes C, riveting funky grooves and splashes of brilliance from world class guitarist Tom Stedman, virtuoso punchy basslines from Rachael Townend, warm and tasty backup vocals and meticulous drumming by Jonny Welburn and suppport on keyboards / piano by Lane and Lane, the band is produces a unique fusion of soul, funk and rock. The album “Refugee” was released in 2017.
